What is Ambrose?
An "Ambrose Competition" simply means that all players tee off, the best shot is selected and all players hit again from that same spot. The best second shot is selected, and all players hit from that same spot, and so on until the ball is holed. The team then records how many shots it has taken their team to hole out (gross score).
During Race Week players will play a 4-person event and each player will use their handicap (for players that aren’t members of golf clubs they will be given a handicap of 27 for men and 36 for ladies). These handicaps from the team will be added together and then divided by 8 to gain the team’s handicap. The team’s scorecard will have a nett result representing their gross score minus their team handicap.
At the end of the week a trophy will be awarded to the best nett score in 3 categories:
- 4-person Mens Team
- 4-person Ladies Team
- 4-person Mixed Team
