Todd Woodbridge hit his first tennis ball at the age of two, played his first tournament at the age of six, decided to become a professional at the age of 10 and at 15 played his first professional tournament.
Todd is regarded as one of the most successful Australian players in tennis history and holds numerous world and Australian records, including the most doubles titles in history (83), the most Wimbledon doubles titles (nine), the most Davis Cup ties played by an Australian (32), the most doubles wins by an Australian, and the most years played by an Australian in Davis Cup (14).
In singles he won two titles and reached a career high ATP ranking of 19 after being a Wimbledon semi-finalist in 1997, but it was in doubles that he excelled - throughout much of his career Todd partnered fellow Aussie Mark Woodforde and together they captured a world record 61 doubles titles. He has won a total of 22 Grand Slam doubles titles, 16 in men’s doubles and six in mixed doubles. Todd also competed in four Olympics, winning gold in the Atlanta 1996 and silver in the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Since retiring, the affable husband and father of two has, amongst a myriad of other projects, worked as a tennis commentator for the Seven Network and participated in the sixth season of Seven’s Dancing with the Stars. Todd is the Tournament Director for the Australian Open Legends event and in July 2009 will take over as the Australian Davis Cup coach.
